Solid & Engineered

RQ began as a solid mill. We spent years studying the pros and cons of adding state-of-the-art engineering practices to our wood flooring. Why? Because changes in design need to be addressed, not ignored. Sometimes a solid floor is just what the doctor ordered, and sometimes you need the benefits of a properly engineered product. We now proudly offer a variety of constructions that enhance every plank in your floor.

Quality engineering will help to extend the life of your floor, so be mindful when choosing what works best for a space. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, and check out our blog post on the different types of constructions for more information.

Cross-Banded Flooring (CBF)

Our premium CBF “sandwich” is an innovative and space-saving option, and the most durable form of engineered construction.

The same usable wear layer as a traditional plank, coupled with the dimensional stability of cross-banded technology, CBF allows for installations at, above, or below grade. By alternating the grain orientation of each layer, running perpendicular cross bands helps minimize natural movement of the individual planks, resulting in a more stable flooring system.

Two-Layer Engineered (TLE)

Two-Layer Engineered is composed of a solid customizable wear layer mounted on high quality Baltic Birch Plywood. TLE offers the same number of sandings as does a solid floor.

A well made engineered product improves the performance & longevity of your floor. As we offer a variety of engineered options, we encourage your questions, and if you let us get to know your project a bit, we can advise which option will work best with your space.

Three-Layer Engineered (3LE)

Three-Layer Engineered is composed of a “sandwich”, where the top and bottom layers are made from the same material and thickness, and the core is made from high quality Baltic Birch Plywood. 3LE offers the same number of sandings as does a solid floor.

This product is a step above your traditional engineered floor. The bottom layers equalize to further stabilize performance and counteract moisture-related movement. If you are looking to take your project a step above your standard engineered product, this is your answer.
